Ambassador Kimon Valaskakis
Ambassador Kimon Valaskakis is a member of the International Advisory Board of the Foundation for a World in Transition.
Ambassador Valaskakis is President of the New School of Athens, a global governance group, Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Montreal, Visiting Professor at the Athens Laboratory for Business Administration (ALBA), Director and Senior Fellow with Futuribles International, a Paris-based think tank, and Senior Advisor of the G8 Research Group.
Ambassador Valaskakis was Canadian Ambassador to the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), where he served as Chairman of the Council Committee on Decision-Making Reform and as Chairman of the Board of the OECD Development Centre, from 1995 to 1999.
Ambassador Valaskakis was co-founder and initial Chairman of Isogroup Consultants, a strategic management firm now sold to the Monitor Consulting Group, from 1990 to 1995.
Ambassador Valaskakis was President and founder of the Gamma Institute, a Montreal-based international think tank specialized in long-term forecastings, initially co-hosted by the University of Montreal and McGill University, from 1974 to 1995.
Ambassador Valaskakis has been a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Resource Management of INSEAD. He has been an invited lecturer at Concordia University and at the Universities of Paris, Versailles, Rennes, Nice and Alicante among others.
Ambassador Valaskakis has served as President of the Canadian Federation of Future Studies, Vice President of the Canadian Association of Economic Studies, Vice President of Cite Libre magazine, member of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Greece, of the North American Society for Corporate Planning, of the World Future Studies Federation and of Prospectives 2100, and a member of the Tokyo Foundation for Advanced Information Research among others.
Ambassador Valaskakis has published 8 books, over 100 scientific papers and 20 book length monographs. He has been active on the international lecture circuit and has given about 500 public speeches in the last ten years.
Ambassador Valaskakis holds a BA in Economics from American University in Cairo, a JD in Law from the University of Paris. He earned a PhD. in Economics from Cornell University.
Ambassador Valaskakis speaks English, French, Greek, Arabic and Italian.
